Peace Corps: The Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Oral History Project
I, Charles McKinney, was interviewed for this groundbreaking initiative aimed at highlighting the experiences of diverse and underrepresented Americans who served in the Peace Corps. Serving as a first-generation volunteer of color in an Eastern European (and later in Eastern Africa) country was a unique and, at times, challenging experience. The interview explores themes of language and culture, international volunteerism, and TESOL pedagogy in a cordial conversation between former Peace Corps volunteers.
