Expanding and localizing efforts to prioritize critical language awareness

This webinar addresses the need to expand localized efforts to integrate critical language awareness (CLA) as a main objective and outcome in language programs and language teacher education in the U.S.

Panelists first deconstruct what CLA means in relation to learning and teaching a U.S. minority language, with a focus on Spanish as a second/heritage/world language.

Then, we consider opportunities and challenges in integrating CLA within our own local contexts and imagine collective paths forward in developing critically aware language users and educators on a broader scale.

The session is open to AAAL members and non-members alike and significant time will be allotted for discussion. A recording will be available for registered participants who are unable to attend.
