Event Details

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to share with you application guidelines for the Language Training Center (LTC) Program Foreign Area Officer (FAO) Regional Skills Sustainment Initiative. Through this solicitation, the LTC Program is seeking proposals from U.S. Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide experienced Foreign Area Officers (FAOs) with opportunities to interact with and learn from regional experts to enhance their knowledge of regional and area studies. Additionally, this request for proposal seeks support for the recently launched Iris Burton Bulls Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Fellowship Program – a DLNSEO initiative within the National Security Education Program.

The LTC Program is an initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO).  Through a partnership between DoD and IHEs, the LTC Program has supported the language and cultural training needs of a wide range of DoD personnel, including military linguists, intelligence analysts, special operations forces, foreign area officers, and the general-purpose forces.  Please visit the LTC website for additional information about the program.

Complete application guidelines and materials for the 2023 LTC FAO Request for Proposals can be accessed by visitinghttps://www.dodltc.org/2023-foreign-area-officers-regional-skills-sustainment-initiative-request-proposal

The deadline for the receipt of proposals is May 31, 2023 (4:30 PM ET).  Institutions interested in submitting a proposal are encouraged to attend a technical assistance webinar scheduled for Monday, May 1, 2023, from 3:00 – 4:00 pm (ET). Registration details for the webinar are available at the RFP website. We ask that you share this information broadly with individuals that may be interested in this opportunity, including your institutions’ deans and colleagues in area studies or other relevant areas.

IIE serves as the administrative agent for the LTC FAO Program and considers it a distinct pleasure to take part in this important effort. Thank you in advance for your interest in this special initiative and for your assistance in distributing this information to other interested colleagues.
