Research Methodology (REM)
This strand is intended to promote discussion of procedures for designing, collecting, generating, analyzing, interpreting, and representing data from empirical studies. Presentations in this strand will focus more on methodological issues than on research findings. Possible topics could include (but are not limited to) various approaches to quantitative research (e.g., experiments, surveys, corpus research) and statistical analysis; mixed methods; various approaches to qualitative research (e.g., conversation and discourse analysis, narrative research, ethnography and auto-ethnography, diary studies, multimodal analysis); and critical discussions of interviewing, transcription, observation, research ethics, and research instruments and tools.
